Vicksburg Catholic Schools System

Lead with Humility, Serve with Love, Strive for Excellence, Prepare for Distinction

Vicksburg Catholic School is a Roman Catholic School based on Gospel Values and Catholic teachings, committed to serving students from diverse backgrounds, and dedicated to preparing them to be servant leaders through academic excellence, authentic faith formation, and student life opportunities within a Christ-centered, caring and safe learning environment. The School System is divided into St. Francis Xavier Elementary, and St. Aloysius High School.

St. Francis Xavier Elementary students are taught foundational studies including religion, math, reading, language, science and social studies, as well as co-curricular subjects: physical education, art, music, band, computer, and library. The curriculum is integrated across all subjects. Student learning is enhanced through the use of technology, research projects, celebrations, presentations, guest speakers, and field trips.

St. Aloysius High School offers a college preparatory curriculum. For middle school/junior high students, Honors classes are offered in math and English. For high school students, Honors and Advanced Placement classes are offered in certain subjects. Students have a seven-period schedule of 50-minute classes. Service, academic and leadership clubs, sports, honor societies, a band, a choral group, and a retreat team provide abundant extracurricular opportunities. All students experience an annual retreat with fellow classmates to grow spiritually as children of God.

Porters Chapel Academy

Porters Chapel Academy strives to train young people through a well-rounded Christian education, thereby preparing them for life as leaders who will choose character before career, wisdom beyond scholarship, service before self and participation as a way of life.

Our philosophy of education is based on the premise that knowledge is impossible without God, the Creator of heaven and earth. God, who created all things, cannot be separated from history, literature, mathematics, science or any other academic discipline. Therefore, the whole range and content of education are to be God-centered.
